Howdy! I'm Tom Booker!

I’m a Writer, Director, and Teacher/Creativity coach who loves to play the accordion and chess, even though I suck at both.

I’ve taught improv, writing, and acting for over thirty years. My experience and the lessons learned from decades of teaching to help individuals (like SNL Stars Bill Hader and Noel Wells) pursue their dreams and to show groups and teams (like Apple, Dell, and Red Bull) work together in a productive and fun way!

I use the tools and principles of improv to help stuck artists get unstuck, new artists get started, and struggling teams find joy!

I'm probably best described as

"Class Clown meets Bob Ross"

This Is My Mission!

My mission is to show people simple ways to pursue their dreams and find fun and joy in everything they do, especially at work. I guarantee that when you work with me, we will have tons of fun! (Because when you’re having fun, you do your best work!)

When I’m not working as a professional merrymaker, you can usually find me at one of Austin’s quirkier coffee shops reading a recently purchased self-help book that I will probably never finish.

More Stuff About Me!

Currently, I am focusing on trying to help as many people as possible—individually with my “Improv Class For You!” workshops and in groups and teams with “Let’s Say YAY!” my company dedicated to helping people who work together learn to play together.

I’m also concentrating on sharing my thoughts on creativity, positivity, and joy by posting them online every day and finishing up my first book, “All I Need To Know I Learned In Improv Class: Creative Thoughts On Uncreative Things,” which I’m hoping to release in February 2025.
